A custom website for a custom architecture firm

The challenge was to create a design that matched an established aesthetic. LHS’s designs are like a Swiss watch, the product of countless precise details working together in harmony.

We created a custom website for this custom architecture firm. Working with photographer Danie Harris to shoot LHS’s most cherished designs, we made sure to capture their detailed beauty. Then we put together an elegant portfolio site and matching printed materials using these photographs.

Communicating warmth and approachability

In this collaboration with Being Design, we worked closely with the Small Things team to develop their visual identity. With several audiences to speak to, our work needed to be approachable and easy to understand. The result is a brand that represents how small things can make a big difference.

A city represented through design

Avenue West has had the great pleasure of working on this project since its conception. For the past five years, the project has evolved from a small exhibition to a 3-day immersive experience dedicated to the city of Philadelphia.

We sourced our color palette from the Philadelphia flag. This year’s theme was convergence. Diverse people, industries and ideas coming together to create the social and cultural tapestry of Philadelphia.

What they said

“In today’s digital & visual driven world, you need someone with a sharp, creative, and efficient skill set in graphic creation. Hannah’s got exactly that. By far one of the most talented artists we’ve come across…and we’ve come across a lot.”

A website to serve a growing community

We revitalized Urban Creators’s brand and website. UC serves a growing community of young people, artists, and small business owners. They wanted a flexible website that allowed for growth and provided an easy user experience.

We created a new visual identity that could be applied to all things Urban Creators. We drew inspiration from their bright and vibrant photos, which we sampled to create a unique pattern, a rich color palette, and a bold font system. We then applied this style in a custom built website which includes an event management system, member profiles, and a resource library for those in need of Covid-19 relief.

What they said

“Avenue West has been an incredible partner! They have helped our organization discover an aesthetic that reflects our spirit, and build consistency with all of our branding and marketing. “

It starts with a playlist...

Our ideas come from the music. Each year this project begins with a playlist, a teaser of the bands slated to perform. We listen to that playlist again and again, letting the music inspire the design.

Listen to the playlist here.

What they said

“Hannah has a unique ability to mine the creative vision of the client and collaborate by infusing her design talents. “

Hannah has a unique ability to mine the creative vision of the client and collaborate by infusing her design talents. Hannah is an absolute delight to work with.”

From Concept to Creation

It started with the wedding playlist. Not the music for wedding party – but the music to inspire the design. For projects that involve music, we ask our clients to set the tone for us so that we can match the design to the vibe. Listen to the playlist here.

We coordinated with Aly & Jacob’s wedding planner, the printer and the couple to ensure all of the pieces were perfect and ready to go well before the date of the event.

What they said

“Hannah brought our idea to life, combining a music festival poster with elegant wedding design. Hannah was always willing to go above and beyond, which was amazing when we stressed about the wedding!”

A visual refresh for an established organization

The Dairy Market Analyst is a well established resource for the dairy industry. They have thousands of followers due to their ability to provide valuable insight in their three page newsletter. Despite the company’s success, they wanted a visual refresh.

Our challenge was to design a new logo and brand system while maintaining the integrity of this long established organization. For inspiration, we looked to the logos of iconic publications like the New York Times, the LA Times, and the Atlantic. Here are the results.
